The Teachers' Day, 2007

Jose K.C., Lecturer

Teachers are privileged to be honoured when done in conjunction with the sacred memories of the Third Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Foundation Day (29th May 2007)

N. B. Gajmer, Sr. Lecturer

The present Samtse College of Education was called the Teacher Training Institute and was inaugurated by our beloved late king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk on 29th May 1968, i.e., 39 years back. It was upgraded to the National Institute of Education in 1984, and in 2006 it was renamed Samtse College of Education. This institute with different names and phases of development has produced many efficient teachers, administrators, and officials who have contributed tremendously to the development of the kingdom.

From a small training institute with 41 in-service and pre-service teachers with the primary teacher training course in the beginning, it has grown into a full-fledged college today with B. Ed, PGCE and Distance Education programmes. Within 39 years of evolution, it has achieved an all-round development to become a popular tertiary college in the kingdom.
